Look at any café menu right now and you will find it: a tall cup with a crushed-strawberry base, a cloud of cold milk and a bright green matcha pour on top. Strawberry matcha is part dessert, part tea, and entirely made to be looked at before it is tasted.
Why the pairing works
Matcha is grassy, a little savoury and gently bitter. Strawberry is sweet, juicy and slightly tart. Milk sits in the middle and softens both. Each layer balances the one beside it, so no single flavour takes over.
Three layers, one straw, and a very good reason to slow down.
Sip it layered, or stir it
Drinking it layered gives you a different taste with each pull: strawberry first, then cream, then tea. Stirring turns it into a smooth, pink-green latte. Neither is wrong, so try both in the same cup.
Tips for the best cup
- Use crushed fruit, not syrup alone, for a fresher flavour.
- Pour the matcha slowly over the back of a spoon so the layers stay clean.
- Keep everything cold and add ice last.
Our Strawberry Matcha follows exactly this recipe, with a 3-pack for the days one is not enough.
